Botox Brow Lift – what is it and how does it work?

A non-surgical injectable brow lift can help to elevate the brow and open the eyes, making you look more refreshed.

A drooping brow and heavy lines can often be the most noticeable signs of ageing. Sagging of the skin above the brow and on the forehead can result in a heavy brow and hooded eyes making you look tired, sad and much older than you actually are. Having perfectly groomed and shaped brows can do wonders for your face.

As you age the repeated facial expressions lead to more folds and wrinkles forming within the skin. The wrinkles between the eyebrows and forehead are often known as glabellar lines. When you’re younger, the collagen and natural elasticity production allows your skin to bounce back when you make expressions but as you age, production declines leaving signs of ageing.

Botox is a very effective and minimally invasive cosmetic treatment which can take years off you by smoothing out the skin on your forehead, whilst also elevating the brows. A Botox brow lift, or Browtox, can correct a drooping brow, leaving you with fewer wrinkles and a more youthful, refreshed appearance.

Botox relaxes specific facial muscles that normally pull the eyebrows down, therefore allowing the lifting muscles to take over. When Botox is strategically applied to specific areas around the eyebrows (to the frontalis muscle), the muscles around the eyebrows are pulled upwards, elevating the eyebrows and moving the natural arch slightly higher. The eyebrows are lifted resulting in the eyes appearing more open and refreshed.

Botox can also be injected at the ends of their eyebrows which can provide an additional amount of levitation in the eyebrow and forehead area.

Botox needs to carefully placed to the correct areas around the eyes and the eyebrow to ensure an even look. The whole upper face needs to be assessed to create a balanced look. If Botox is placed incorrectly, it can actually flatten the brow arch, and could lead to a heavier brow and even a droopy eyelid.

The eyebrows remain in a lifted position until the Botox where’s off, in anywhere from three to four months. Find out more about the effects of Botox, how it works and how long it lasts here

Patients who are looking for a more mild-to-moderate brow lift, may be able to achieve excellent results with a non-surgical Botox brow lift procedure. Results from a Botox browlift can vary between a 1 to 3 mm lift. It all depends on the natural shape of your brows. Most patients also benefit from a further injection at the tail of the brow.

Other patients looking for a moderate to large lift may need a surgical brow lift cosmetic procedure to correct their brows. The downside with this surgery is the scarring, downtime and that results cannot be reversed.

Benefits of a Botox Brow Lift include:

  • Quick and convenient – a Botox Brow Lift treatment takes around 20 minutes, so is a perfect treatment that can be fitted in your lunch hour.
  • Fast and effective results – it takes approximately 5-7 days for Botox results to take effect
  • No downtime – you can get back to your normal activities right away
  • Non-surgical so no scarring. Side effects are minimal, if any
  • The treatments can be combined with other non-surgical eye lift treatments like dermal fillers
