More Youthful Appearance
PRP therapy (Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy) is an amazing, natural treatment for skin rejuvenation and hair loss. A PRP facial treatment stimulates the production of collagen and elastin to achieve a more youthful appearance as the skin appears brighter and healthier.
PRP therapy is a cosmetic injectable treatment that uses your own platelet rich plasma. The plasma component of your blood contains vital proteins called growth factors, amino acids and stem cells. When injected back into the skin, these growth factors are released and promote healing by accelerating the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin, leading to younger looking skin.
Skin Rejuvenation
PRP can improve skin texture and tone, tackle blemishes, reduce fine lines and scarring, plump the skin and provide overall skin rejuvenation.
A PRP treatment is great for anyone who is concerned by any areas of skin that are starting to lose elasticity and volume. It’s also a highly effective method for stimulating your body’s cells to produce new, healthy looking skin.
PRP is also a fantastic treatment for the delicate eye area and can help to reduce puffiness and dark circles under the eyes.
Boosted Skin Growth & Nutrients
The skin is the last organ in your body that the blood delivers any nutrients too. Therefore, unfortunately by the time the blood reaches the skin, the majority of the nutrients have been delivered to the muscles and organs within the body.
Therefore, by taking the blood and injecting the plasma directly into the skin we are using a concentrated supply of the blood's own nutrients, which would ordinarily reach the skin in limited supply.
Your own blood is taken and spun in a centrifuge to separate the blood plasma. The enriched platelets known as 'liquid gold' are then injected into the skin releasing growth factors and essential nutrients, along with increasing collagen and elastin production in the skin.
Free radicals, along with gravity and facial movement damage skin cells which causes ageing. When skin cells are damaged, they lose their firmness and rigidity, causing sagging skin and fine lines and wrinkles to form. When we replace these cells with healthy ones, you regain that plump, bouncy skin you once had with youthful glow.
Vampire Facial
The blood plasma can also be micro-needled into the skin (known as a Vampire Facial) for a total facial rejuvenation.
That PRP is microneedled into the skin. The concentrated platelets and growth factors enter into the dermis through the micro-channels created, helping to stimulate collagen and elastin production even more.
Microneedling can be used in conjunction with rich plasma PRP injections or can be used on its own if this method is preferred.
Please see our PRP Hair Treatment for further details as to the great benefits PRP can have on hair growth.
PRP with Hyaluronic Acid
At Alabaster Aesthetics we also have the option of using a PRP tube that contains Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic acid is crucial to the moisture and elasticity of our skin. By creating a mix of PRP you can achieve a two dimensional effect on the signs of ageing on your skin.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much blood is taken?
A very small blood sample is taken, although this will vary depending on the area being treated. Generally, 2 vacutainers are used to treat the face.
How many treatments will I need?
This will vary from person to person due to the individual’s natural variation in quality of Platelet Rich Plasma, as well as their lifestyle.
For facial rejuvenation, generally a course of three to six sessions are recommended. However, the longer you can continue with the treatment the better it is for your skin.
Whilst we cannot stop the aging process, we can slow it down and therefore the best results are seen on individuals who lead a healthy lifestyle and maintain the results.
Will I leave the appointment with visible blood on the area?
No, your plasma is clear and therefore is not visible. With a vampire facial, after the plasma has been microneedled into the skin, before applying the face mask a small amount of the remaining blood can be dabbed onto the skin. This is more for a photo effect as this part of the blood does not contain as much as the goodness as the plasma. This is an optional part of the procedure and most clients do not wish to have this step included.
What should I do before the appointment?
- Avoid anti-inflammatory medication such as Aspirin or Ibuprofen for one week prior to the appointment
- Avoid alcohol 48 hours prior to the appointment
What should I do after the appointment?
- There is very little downtime with a PRP procedure. You may experience some mild bruising, redness and slight swelling after the treatment. Heavy exercise, and extreme heat, such as saunas, steam rooms and sun beds should be avoided until this subsides.
- Keep the skin clean – do not apply makeup that day
Are there any risks involved with the treatment?
PRP is an extremely low risk treatment as it uses your own cells to inject into the skin and so poses no danger of a foreign-body reaction or an allergic reaction.
It is a very safe procedure with no adverse reactions and has been used in the hospital system and in sports medicine for many years due to its effectiveness in the wound healing process.
PRP has been extensively used in both the medical field and with cosmetic procedures for many years due to its effectiveness on cell growth.
